Warner Bros. has announced that Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) is set to star as Lex Luthor in their upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. They also announced that Jeremy Irons (Die Hard with a Vengeance) will play Alfred to Ben Affleck’s Batman. The Zach Snyder-directed movie will open worldwide on May 6, 2016. (Ain’t It Cool)

Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) is set to direct the Constantine pilot for NBC. Based on the character in DC Comics’ John Constantine stories, the show will center on the titular character, an enigmatic and irreverent con-man-turned-reluctant-supernatural-detective who is thrust into the role of defending mankind against dark forces. X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently spoke about her desire to make a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum playing the Cajun card-throwing mutant. “I’m dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum. That doesn’t have to be a great big movie. It’s a thief in New Orleans, it’s a whole different story. He’s on board, and I have to get the studio on board. How can anyone resist Channing? He’s such a sweetheart.” (Empire)

New photos from Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier have popped up online. One photo in particular features a first-look at Batroc the Leaper, a villain from the Marvel Comics universe. (IGN)

Tara Reid and Ian Ziering are set to return in SyFy’s Sharknado 2: The Second One.  Anthony Ferrante will also return to direct the sequel to the 2013 original TV movie. Sharknado 2 is slated to premiere in July on the cable network. (Hollywood Reporter)

Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire) has joined the second season of NBC’s Hannibal. He will play the role of Mason Verger, a patient of Dr. Lecter’s who unwisely begins to play a deadly game when he discovers Hannibal’s secrets. The character was previously featured in Ridley Scott’s 2001 film Hannibal and was played by Gary Oldman. (EW)

Danny McBride, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Hudson and Shia LaBeouf have joined Bruce Willis and Bill Murray in Barry Levinson’s Rock the Kasbah. The comedy follows a has-been rock manager who finds himself penniless and without a passport in Kabul after taking his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan. There he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice and manages her through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol, the wildly popular Afghan Star. (The Wrap)

Brie Larson (Short Term 12, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) is in talks to star in The Good Luck of Right Now for directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks). The movie, based upon the upcoming novel from author Matthew Quick (Silver Linings Playbook), follows the intertwined lives of four people, all outsiders in their own right. However, in the wake of grieving over pain and loss in their lives, they come together to form the most unlikely family. Mike White (School of Rock, Enlightened) is currently writing the screenplay. Scream Factory revealed the cover art for their upcoming Blu-ray release of the cult-favorite werewolf film Ginger Snaps. “We end January with yet another key art reveal for you. Check out the new key art for our upcoming Collector’s Edition of the Canadian sisters-in-cahoots werewolf favorite GINGER SNAPS (DVD & Blu-ray combo out in July)!” (Scream Factory)

Universal Pictures has updated their release calendar giving seven new films release dates. Guillermo del Toro’s gothic horror movie, Crimson Peak, will hit theaters and IMAX on October 16, 2015. Ouija, a supernatural thriller based on the popular board game, arrives in theaters on October 24, 2014. The newly announced sequel Pitch Perfect 2, which will be directed by Elizabeth Banks (co-star and producer of the original film), will hit theaters on May 15, 2015. Everest, the mountain climbing drama starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal, will arrive in 3D and IMAX 3D on February 27, 2015. The Dowdle brothers’ new psychological thriller As Above, So Below will hit the big screen on August 15, 2014. A Walk Among the Tombstones, based on Lawrence Block’s bestselling series of mystery novels and starring Liam Neeson, will arrive on September 19, 2014. Finally, Universal’s fully-animated Untitled Pets Project, which features the voices of Louis C.K. and Kevin Hart, will be released in 3D on February 12, 2016. (Comingsoon.net)

Marvel Studios has tapped Craig Kyle to co-write Thor 3 with Thor: The Dark World scribe Christopher Yost. Chris Hemsworth is expected to return though no release date has been set yet. (Variety)

The teaser trailer for Under the Skin has arrived online. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson as an extraterrestrial seductress who strolls around the streets of Scotland as she entices unsuspecting men for her own evil purposes. The Jonathan Glazer directed film hits NY and LA on April 4 before expanding into more theaters on April 11.
