For the month of October, I wanted to do something fun to celebrate my favorite month of the year and I started putting together a post that featured a bunch of ’80s horror movie posters. I gathered so many posters that I realized that it’d be a better idea (and more fun!) to do 31 Days of ’80s Horror, a post that would feature the posters I’d collected and give a little description of each movie. Some of the movies you’ll have surely heard of, others may be new to you, but I hope you enjoy this month-long movie-a-day column and even seek out some of the movies you’ll find here. I know I want to watch all of these, or in some cases, rewatch them.
Night Train to Terror
Aboard a fast moving train bound for Hell, God and Satan decide the fates of three unfortunate mortals. In Harry, a fiendish killer keeps the horribly mutilated body parts of his countless victims in a diabolical tourture chamber. In Gretta, a young woman, obsessed with death, takes part in an unspeakable ritual of Russian roulette. Finally in Claire, a young woman and a Holocaust survivor are terrorized by the son of Satan! This horror anthology features three stories connected by segments of God and Satan bickering for the souls while aboard the Night Train to Terror!
This obscure movie from 1985 has evaded my radar until recently when Vinegar Syndrome announced it was releasing it as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (restored in 2K from 35mm elements). After watching the trailer, which is embedded below, I have to say the movie looks both fun and weird.. and so very ’80s! The cast is a list of unknowns as nearly all of the actors never worked on another film other than Night Train to Terror. The movie’s writer and five directors are also unknowns. I’m very curious to give this movie a spin as some of the special effects in the trailer look pretty sweet.
How to watch Night Train to Terror
