A new poster for James Wan’s The Conjuring is now online.  The horror film starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor hits theaters on July 19. (Ain’t It Cool)

All four turtles have been cast in the upcoming live-action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) will play Raphael, Pete Ploszek (Shameless) will play Leonardo, Jeremy Howard (Galaxy Quest) will play Donatello and Noel Fisher (Shameless) will play Michelangelo.  The actors will play the turtles using motion capture technology. Tom Hardy and Jason Statham are the front runners to play Snake Plissken in Studio Canal’s remake of John Carpenter’s Escape From New York.  Gerard Butler and Jeremy Renner were at one point considered for the role when the project was set up at New Line but they gave up the rights to the film in 2011. Netflix is teaming up with the Wachowskis (Cloud Atlas and The Matrix trilogy) and J. Michael Straczynski (creator of Babylon 5) to bring their original TV series Sense8 to the small screen. The Wachowskis spoke about the 10-episode first season’s origin, “Several years ago, we had a late night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8 was born.” (ShockTillYouDrop)

Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers) has been linked to Disney’s The Muppets… Again!  He plays a character named “The Great Escapo.”  It’s also been learned that Christoph Waltz is still in the film, despite it being reported that he left the project, and that he has already shot his scenes. Amazon Studios has greenlit a pilot for a Zombieland TV series from writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.  The pilot will be made available on Amazon Instant Video and feedback from Amazon customers will determine whether the series gets picked up for a full order of episodes. (Techno Buffalo)

Nicola Peltz has been cast as the female lead role in Transformers 4.  Peltz previously starred in The Last Airbender and can currently be seen on A&E’s Bates Motel. (Michael Bay)

Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid) is in talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  He would play a senior leadership role in the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.  The sequel, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, will hit theaters on April 4, 2014. (Deadline)

Craig Robinson, one of the stars of Hot Tub Time Machine and NBC’s The Office, stated in an interview that Hot Tub Time Machine 2 will be shooting this summer. (Vibe)

The teaser poster for the big screen adaptation of Ender’s Game is now online.  The Gavin Hood-directed movie stars Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis.  The film hits theaters on November 1. (Comingsoon.net)

Enders Game teaser poster

James Bond franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson intend on bringing Skyfall director Sam Mendes back for another film.  Mendes recently said he would not return for the next film due to his theater commitments but Broccoli stated, “We will get him back. We haven’t given up hope… Maybe not for the next one… but we will get him back again.”  Wilson added, “We are working on him. We hope that maybe he will have gotten inspired to come back.” (Dark Horizons)

MGM announced that they are partnering with GK films to produce the new Tomb Raider movie. Graham King, of GK Films, spoke on the matter, “I am thrilled to partner with Gary (Barber) and his MGM team on rebooting this successful Tomb Raider film franchise.  The enthusiasm over the recent game release is very encouraging and we can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.” (SuperHeroHype)

Monsters: Dark Continent, the sequel to Gareth Edwards’ low-budget critically-acclaimed Monsters, has started principal photography in Jordan.  Tom Green, a frequent director of the British TV series Misfits, is making his feature film debut with Edwards executive producing. (Screen Daily)

The new trailer for Birdemic 2: The Resurrection has hit the web!  The sequel to the campy cult favorite Birdemic brings back original stars Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore, along with newcomers Thomas Favaloro and Chelsea Turnbo. (This Is Birdemic)


Breaking Glass Pictures has announced an April 23 Blu-ray and DVD release date for Jules Stewart’s K-11 starring Goran Visnjic, Kate Del Castillo, DB Sweeney, Jason Mewes and Portia Doubleday.  K-11 marks the directorial debut of Jules Stewart, mother to Twilight star Kristen Stewart.  Son Cameron Stewart makes his feature film debut as an actor in the film while Kristen makes a special contribution.  Below is the trailer for the film which can be pre-ordered at the link.   1. I don’t know how the news of Christoph Waltz joining / leaving / already filming for the The Muppets… Again eluded me till now. I’m excited to hear of Tom Hiddleston joining the cast as well, perhaps in a capacity similar to Charles Grodin in The Great Muppet Caper? That’d be super-rad.
