Two new stills from Edgar Wright’s At the World’s End, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, have appeared online.  The film opens on October 25. (Empire)

Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) has signed on to direct the live-action adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s video game universe Warcraft.  The Legendary Pictures produced film is eyeing for a Fall 2013 start with a release sometime in 2015.  The script by Charles Leavitt is currently being kept under wraps. Paul Giamatti is in talks to join The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the role of the Rhino.  That would give the film two villains with the already announced Jamie Foxx as Electro.  Actress Felicity Jones is also in talks for an unspecified role. (Hollywood Reporter)

Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) are set to reprise their characters in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.  They join the already returning Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Hugh Jackman. Actress Eva Green has been cast in the titular role of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.  She will play Ava who Frank Miller describes as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.” (Ain’t It Cool)

A new poster for Iron Man 3 has arrived just in time to tease its upcoming Super Bowl TV spot. Directed by Shane Black, the film opens in 3D and 2D on May 3. (SuperHeroHype)

20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to Dark Horse’s Mind MGMT comic that is written and illustrated by Matt Kindt (Super Spy, Revolver).  Ridley Scott will produce through his Scott Free production outfit and a search for a writer for the adaptation is being sought.  The series revolves around a government agency consisting of psychic spies and a true-crime author who is investigating the agency. (Hollywood Reporter)

Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the writers behind Skyfall and four other James Bond films, have come aboard to write the Barbarella TV series spearheaded by Drive director Nicholas Winding Refn, who will direct and executive produce the series. (Deadline)

It looks like only three studios are advertising movies during the Super Bowl.  Paramount has 30-second spots for World War Z (pre-game) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2nd quarter). Universal Pictures will release a 30-second spot revealing the first footage for Fast & Furious 6 during the game.  Disney will have a new add for Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful, a 90-second spot for The Lone Ranger and a 60-second spot for Iron Man 3. Fede Alvarez’s reboot of The Evil Dead, opening April 5, has been trimmed down to an “R” rating after being given an “NC-17.”  It’s expected the “NC-17” cut will likely be made available in an unrated home video release.  Also, Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem has been given an R-rating for “disturbing violent and sexual content, graphic nudity, language and some drug use.” (ShockTillYouDrop)

CBS and 20th Century Fox studios have announced that How I Met Your Mother will return next year with its final season.  Audiences will finally be able to learn the identity of the mystery mother.  (Comingsoon.net)

The Muppets sequel has an official new title, The Muppets… Again!, as well as some new plot details and two new still photos.  The story takes the entire Muppets gang “on a global tour, selling out grand theatres in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.”  It’s also being reported that Bret McKenzie will return to write songs for the sequel. Warner Bros has given the greenlight to a movie version of HBO’s Entourage.  The film will be written and directed by series creator Doug Ellin and deals are currently being negotiated with the series actors Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven. (Deadline)

Cobie Smulders, who played S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in last year’s The Avengers, revealed that she will be reprising her role in the upcoming Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. She also went on to comment on whether or not she’d play Agent Hill in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Marvel TV series S.H.I.E.L.D.“The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it and I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it… I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it. (I Am Rogue)

A new trailer for Knights of Badassdom, starring Steve Zahn, Ryan Kwanten, Peter Dinklage and Summer Glau, has been released online.  There is still no official date set for the film but according to IMDB, it is set to be released this year.
