Ricky Gervais (BBC’s The Office, Extras) is in talks to star in The Muppets 2 as the lead human character.  Ty Burrell (Modern Family) was previously announced to have joined the cast as a lazy Interpol inspector after Christoph Waltz had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.  James Bobin returns to direct from a script by Nicholas Stoller. Jackie Chan confirmed that he will be joining the cast of The Expendables 3.  Chan said that he signed on under the condition that he will appear as more than just a minor role. (Cinema Online)

Paramount Pictures has announced that Anchorman: The Legend Continues will open on December 20, 2013.  (Comingsoon.net)

Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter the other day to confirm that Hugh Jackman is officially cast in X-Men: Days of Future Past, “I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited! More to come…” (Bryan Singer)

Universal Pictures has officially given Riddick a release date of September 6, 2013.  The film, from writer/director David Twohy with Vin Diesel starring, will open in IMAX and regular theaters on the same day. (SuperHeroHype)

Screenwriter Damon Lindelof (Prometheus, Lost) has confirmed that he will not return to write Prometheus 2 for director Ridley Scott due to a busy schedule. (Collider)

CBS TV Studios has just closed a deal with director Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men: Days of Future Past) to bring a new Twilight Zone series back to television.  It’s expected that if the series moves forward, it would air on CBS or the CW. (Deadline)

Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) is in talks to join Andy and Lana Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending.  The sci-fi tale, which stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, is set “in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder and follows a woman who has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe.” (Variety)

A January 24, 2014 release date has been given to Ten, the action thriller starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.  The film is directed by David Ayer (End of Watch) and co-stars Joe Manganiello, Sam Worthington, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Josh Holloway, Olivia Williams and Mireille Enos.  A still from the film has also been released. A new Red-band trailer for the upcoming comedy This is the End has popped up on the web.  The film stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, David Krumholtz, Martin Starr, Mindy Kaling as pseudo-like characters of themselves set against the backdrop of the end of the world.
