The Hobbit trilogy has now been given official titles and release dates.  The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14, 2012.  The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be released on December 13, 2013.  The final film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be released on July 18, 2014. Paul McGuigan (Push, Lucky Number Slevin) is in talks to direct 20th Century Fox’s untitled Frankenstein project.  Shawn Levy was interested in directing but dropped out due to prior commitments.  The screenplay was written by Max Landis (Chronicle). (Comingsoon.net)

The sixth installment of the Child’s Play franchise, Curse of Chucky, has started principal photography in Canada.  The film is directed by the franchise’ creator Don Mancini and stars Fiona Dourif, A Martinez, Danielle Bisutti and Brennan Elliott.  Brad Dourif returns to provide the voice of Chucky. It appears that Richard Linklater has wrapped Before Midnight, a sequel to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset that stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.  Rumors were rampant upon whether or not shooting was happening in Greece and it looks like Linklater successfully shot the film under the radar of everyone.  Now a still from the film has shown up online.  No release date has been announced yet. FOX has commited to producing a pilot of a new J.J. Abrams/J.H. Wyman sci-fi drama.  The show, which is currently untitled, is described as an action-packed buddy cop show where human cops are partnered up with human-like androids. (Deadline)

Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite) has signed on to star in a potential new action franchise titled Codename: Falcon.  The franchise would follow a former marine named John “Falcon” Chapman and is described as a “dark anti-hero driven by guilt, who will destroy himself unless given something else to destroy.”  The first film, Favela, is currently in pre-production. Paul Thomas Anderson spoke about his next project, Inherent Vice, based off of the Thomas Pynchon novel, while at the Venice Film Festival.  Anderson described it as a being like a “Cheech and Chong movie.” (Empire)

Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz) will reteam with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright in The World’s End.  Considine will play a former ladies man and musician who has grown up to be a divorced architect. (Variety)

After Safe House went on to make over $200 million, Universal is now considering a sequel and has brought back original screenwriter David Guggenheim to pen a second film. (Hollywood Reporter)

Paramount Pictures has revealed a new poster for the Halloween comedy, Fun Size.  The movie hits theaters on Oct. 26th. (Comingsoon.net)
