I can’t say I’m a big Barry Levinson fan. He’s made some decent films over the years but I’ve never really been able to get into many of his movies, so normally when I see his name attached to a new film, I don’t really think anything of it. That being said, after watching the trailer for his new found footage creature feature, The Bay, I have to say that I’m rather intrigued.
The film stars Kristin Connolly, of Cabin in the Woods fame, and is about a town whose water supply becomes toxic. The mayor refuses to let the town know of the contaminated water and, as a result, a plague breaks out that allows mutated parasites to take control of the town residents’ bodies and minds. Sounds a bit like a riff on Invasion of the Body Snatchers, huh? Either way, I’m interested in checking out. Maybe Levinson will make a fan out of me yet.
The Bay opens on November 2.
