Joe Dante’s latest directorial effort from 2009 is FINALLY getting released here in the States on Sept. 28. It’s unknown how big the theatrical release will be or if they will have 3D showings (it was shot in 3D) but the film looks to be scheduled to hit Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 2. Either way, I’m really excited that this film didn’t get stuck on a shelf forever and that I get to see another horror film from one of my favorite directors. Now if we only had The ‘Burbs or The Howling coming to Blu-ray on the same day as a tie-in.
This is the new film from Brian DePalma that stars Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris, Morning Glory) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus). The trailer doesn’t really give much away story-wise but it provides plenty of intrigue. I have a feeling the play between the two actresses with DePalma’s touch will undoubtedly create something really captivating. I’m looking forward to seeing this.
Bullet to the Head
Sylvester Stallone in a Walter Hill directed film? I’m so in. The film is scheduled to be released on February 1, 2013, after it had been shuffled around a couple times, so let’s hope this date sticks. The film looks pretty badass and I can’ t wait to see what Hill and Stallone have cooked up for us.
I loved Martin McDonagh’s directorial debut, In Bruges. It had some really great characters and superbly balanced its comedic and dramatic elements. Seven Psychopaths marks his sophomoric film and it sports a pretty amazing cast with Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson, Tom Waits, Abbie Cornish and Olga Kurylenko. If McDonagh capitalizes on the strengths of his first film and injects that into Seven Psychopaths, I think we’ll be in for a really fun time. The trailer already looks fun and this is a must-see as far as I’m concerned.
Birdemic 2: The Resurrection
If you’ve seen the first Birdemic film, which is a great so-bad-it’s-good movie, then you know that you’ll be wanting to see this as soon as you can with a large group of friends, some of which may or may not be slightly intoxicated. When Birdemic 2 was announced, I was wondering how do you top the original? Well apparently, you add zombies to your killer/exploding/acid-spewing bird movie. I hope it’s painfully bad.. so I can have a good time with it!
