Producer Bryan Singer confirmed that the sequel to X-Men: First Class will indeed be X-Men: Days of Future Past.  He stated that Matthew Vaughn is back to direct and that the film will borrow from the John Byrne/Chris Claremont story of the same name while adding some new things. (IGN)

20th Century Fox is moving forward on a sequel to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.  Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are both contracted to reprise their roles.  The studio is currently looking for new writers as it is not expected that Damon Lindeloff will return.  The film is aiming for a 2014 or 2015 release date. New stills from Joss Whedon’s upcoming adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing have appeared online featuring cast members such as Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Nathan Fillion and Tom Lenk.  The film, which premieres next month at TIFF, also stars Fran Kranz, Sean Maher, Clark Gregg, Ashley Johnson and Riki Lindhome. Christopher Eccleston, well known for playing the ninth Doctor on Doctor Who, has been cast as Malekith the Accursed in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World.  Malekith is the ruler of the Dark Elves who reside in Svartalfheim, one of Asgard’s Nine Realms.  The film will be released on November 8, 2013. Director John M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) is in talks to helm Masters of the Universe.  Alex Litvak and Mike Finch scripted the movie based upon the He-Man Mattel toy line.  No release date has been set for the film. (Deadline)

HBO will produce and air Larry David’s new untitled comedy.  The film which will star David (he’s also co-writing) and be directed by Greg Mottola (Adventureland, Paul) is rumored to also star Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton. (Deadline)

A new still reveals the first look of Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Last Stand.  He plays a small-town sheriff caught up in a battle with a big-time drug cartel.  The film is scheduled to be released on January 18, 2013. (USA Today)

Dan Akroyd has stated that Ghostbusters 3 is moving forward without Bill Murray.  “It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation.  Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill.  My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on.  It’s time to make the third one.” (Metro)

Wes Craven has teamed up with 30 Days of Night creator Steve Niles for a new graphic novel, Coming of Rage.  The graphic novel, which will also be released as a 5-issue limited comic series, will arrive in stores in 2013.  It’s also rumored to be making its way to the big screen as well. HBO has its own Alfred Hitchcock film in the works entitled The Girl.  The film stars Toby Jones as Hitchock and Sienna Miller as Tippi Hedren.  It centers on the relationship between the master of suspense and his notable leading lady.  A still of the two actors as their characters has been released. It appears that comedians Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan will team with artist Tony Moore (The Walking Dead) to be the creative team on Marvel Now!’s relaunch of the Deadpool character.  The new comic issues will hit stores in November. (IGN)

  1. Maybe by 2015 I’ll be ready to consider a Prometheus 2. Until then, I’ll just continue talking smack about it =) Looking forward to Much Ado…obviously lol
