Sam Raimi’s Spider-man Trilogy Gets Blu-ray Reissue, Features WORST Cover Art Ever Created

Marvel.com announced today the reissues for Sam Raimi’s Spider-man trilogy hitting stores on June 12th.  I sadly don’t own these films on blu-ray yet as I was waiting for the inevitable re-issue of the the films.  Well, it seems I may now have to wait longer after having seen the artwork for the three reissues.  They are literally the ugliest and most lazily put together cover designs I’ve ever seen.  I know that cover art is something that ultimately doesn’t matter as the content the disc holds is really what is most important but seeing the images of the new covers awakened my inner Hulk.

Marvel should be ashamed of themselves for approving these preliminary-art-looking designs.  I know these reissues are cash grabs capitalizing on the upcoming The Amazing Spider-man release.  I have no qualms with that whatsoever.  But with these cover designs, I feel like Marvel is blatantly saying “we know these will sell so we will put the minimal amount of effort in reissuing these discs.   We know you’ll buy it you suckers.”  I was ready to buy these new editions happily but I honestly don’t want these hideous things sitting on my shelf.  I suppose I will have to hope for a complete box set (that doesn’t look like it was designed by a four year old learning photoshop) containing all four Spidey films once Amazing Spider-man is released on blu-ray or just find the old versions.  Perhaps my reaction to the art is a bit over the top, or perhaps you agree with me?  Regardless, for those of you who are interested in these reissues, here are the features of the upcoming discs.. and the artwork that made me want to Hulk smash my monitor.
